The Cognitio Family

The Cognitio family includes the control units that form the basis of the Exeo PROCEDO System's distributed intelligence. Because they are located where they are required, the Cognitio controllers can quickly gather local knowledge and provide nearly instantaneous services without the need for a master controller or central computer.

All controllers are equal participants in the distributed system; they exchange information on a peer-to-peer basis throughout each Cell. One of the controllers, typically a power management unit (Cognitio PMU) acts as the communication gateway to the IP network. All Cells within an installed site are thus connected to an IP network which is usually simply the building's LAN. There is no need for a special IP network or routers to support the Exeo PROCEDO System installation.

From each Cognitio ACU stems a short-range network of peripherals as well as the full complement of accessories needed to deliver the services for which it is configured. The Cognitio ACU is the Master of this small, localized world of security sensors and access control devices.
